The process of direct purchase of 40,000 MT paddy from farmers at the minimum support price of Rs 21. 83 per kg for the current kharif season is going to start very soon.
This was said by the Minister of Food and Public Distribution Department Sushanta Chowdhury on Wednesday afternoon in a press conference.
Mr. Chowdhury also said that our farmer friend state government is buying paddy directly from the farmers every year in order to benefit the farmers. Paddy is being purchased every season to increase the stock of food grains in the country and state and to control the market price.
In his words, to implement that goal, every district and subdivision has been given the necessary instructions for purchasing paddy this year.
He said that he has instructed the officials to increase the target of paddy purchase this season more than last time.
He further said that strict vigil has been ordered to ensure that even a farmer is not forced to sell paddy at a price less than the minimum support price.
