Govt, TTAADC Can’t Avoid Responsibility: THRO On Khowai Poverty Death Incident

A delegation of Tripura Human Rights Organization (THRO) came to know about the tragic incident after going to the house of Pramila Munda, who committed suicide with her son due to poverty in Khowai .

25-year-old Pramila Munda committed suicide by poisoning her two minor sons. The younger Parimal Munda died on the spot. 11-year-old elder son Manish Munda is currently undergoing treatment at GB Hospital.

A delegation of THRO Khowai Committee visited the house of deceased Pramila Munda in Gopalnagar ADC Village and found that Manu Munda, Pramila’s husband and father of two minors, was intoxicated and vagrant. Pramila Munda was running the family. The family has no ration card. No REGA job card, no electricity connection in the area. The living room in the house is very dilapidated, the roof of the house is almost non-existent. Pramila used to live with two minors in a house completely unfit for human habitation.

Pramila Munda was forced to commit suicide along with her two minor children as she could not bear the severe suffering of unbearable poverty and deprivation. The THRO delegation arrived at the above conclusions after exchanging opinions with the local residents and observing the residence of the family.

The THRO delegation included Ashish Mukherjee, Alak Debbarma and Sunil Debnath, THRO Secretary Purushottam Roy Barman said in response to the tragic incident of suicide by poisoning two minor children, “the responsibility of the state government and ADC administration cannot be avoided in any way”.

The THRO Secretary said that the severity of the shortage and famine in the state has been sharply illustrated by the leak of government propaganda.
