High Fare Of Agartala- Mumbai Direct Train To Become Heavy For Poor, Lower Class

The Ministry of Railways has announced the extension of the express train between Guwahati’s Kamakhya and Mumbai’s Lokmanya Tilak stations to Agartala once a week.

However  It has not been announced when it will be launched. But, this train is fully air-conditioned. There is no general sleeper coach.

According to the media report Agartala to Mumbai minimum fare is Rs 3655 in 3-tier. Rs 4745 in two-tier and Rs 8685 in the first class!

It will take 55 to 60 hours or two and a half days to reach Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh and Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh.

That means, the cost of food is one and a half thousand more per person. The question has been raised whether this train will be of any use to the poor and lower class people of Tripura.

“If you book the ticket in advance, you can go from Agartala to Mumbai by air with this money” said Ratan Saha a resident from Agartala.

Airfare will also be less than the first class fare of the train.

On the other hand, the Agartala-Sabroom demo train has not started even two months after the announcement. The announcement of operation of Agartala-Sealda Kanchenjunga Express from Sabroom has also not been implemented yet.
