Highest Ever: GST Revenue Collection In April Rs 1.87 Lakh Cr

The GST collection of the government in the month of April was Rs 1.87 lakh crore, which is a record till now. 

This is 12 percent more than in April last year. During this, the highest collection record was also made in a single day. 

On April 20, a tax of Rs 68,228 crore was collected through 9.8 lakh transactions. This is the record of highest tax collection in a day. Earlier this record was in the name of April 20 last year. 

Then Rs 57,846 crore was deposited through 9.6 lakh transactions in a day. GST collection in April last year was Rs 1,67,540 crore. 

But this time this record has been broken. The GST collection in April 2023 was Rs 19,495 crore more than this. The GST collection in March was Rs 1.6 lakh crore.

In April, CGST stood at Rs 38,440 crore, SGST at Rs 47,412 crore, IGST at Rs 89,158 crore (Rs 34,972 crore collected on import of goods) and Cess at Rs 12,025 crore (Rs 901 crore collected on import of goods). 

This is the first time that the GST collection has crossed Rs 1.75 lakh crore in a month. It has increased for the second consecutive month. 

Earlier it was Rs 1.49 lakh crore in February and Rs 1.60 lakh crore in March. The Center is expected to get Rs 9.56 lakh crore as GST in the financial year 2024, which is 12 per cent higher than last year’s collection. 

The total gross collection in the financial year 2022-23 was Rs 18.10 lakh crore, which is 22 percent more than the previous year.
