The National Investigation Agency (NIA) in collaboration with the BSF has arrested more than 25 persons for their alleged involvement in human trafficking in Tripura.
The operation which started on Tuesday night continued till Wednesday morning in the border areas.
In this regard, a police official said that the Tripura police did not have any information before the operation.
Raids were carried out in various parts of the state yesterday, but the local police were not involved in the operation. Details of the operation were limited to top cops.
According to the report apart from Tripura, the NIA has conducted raids in ten states including Assam, West Bengal, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Haryana, Puducherry, Rajasthan and Jammu and Kashmir,
In this regard, a police official also said that the accused arrested during the operation will be booked in a special NIA court. No one will be handed over to the local police.
Sources from Tripura Police Department NIA arrested the persons involved in various human trafficking and militant activities.
Sources also said that NIA arrested the accused from Sabroom, Bilonia, Madhupur etc areas of Tripura.
