Husband-Wife Carrying 30 Kg Ganja In Luxury Car Arrested In Churaibari

Ganja worth Rs 4 lakh 50 thousand was recovered in front of Churaibari police station. 

Along with this a luxury car, and husband-wife has been arrested . 

According to the repory on Tuesday afternoon, the police received a tip-off that cannabis would be smuggled in a car. 

Based on that news, the police of Churaibari police station arrested a private car numbered TR-04E-0768 at the Naka point in front of Churaibari police station. The car was going out of state.

Later, the vehicle was searched in the presence of North District Superintendent of Police Bhanupada Chakraborty and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Debashish Saha. 

During the search operation, 30 kg of ganja in 61 small packets recovered from the secret chamber of the car. 

The District Superintendent of Police said reporters that on the instructions of the Chief Minister, 16 naka points have been set up from Churaibari to Sabroom in the state since August 19. Anti-narcotics operation of the police is going on at Naka points in different areas of the state. On this day, two people have been arrested along with the recovery of ganja from the secret chamber of the car seized at Naka Point in front of Churaibari police station.

The accused are husband and wife. The arrested are Sudip Karmakar (41), resident of Hejamara under Sidhai police station, and his wife Dimali Debbarma, ( 23) , resident of Hatimara area under Khowai police station. 

The black market value of recovered ganja is Rs 4 lakh 50 thousand. 

During the initial interrogation, the arrested said that they were taking the ganja from Sidhai to out of state. 

A case under NDPS act has been registered against the arrested. 

On Wednesday, the police will hand over the arrested to the court, applying for police remand.
