They were arrested from Dharmanagar railway station in North district on Thursday (April 6).

The arrested are Asar Ahmed (29), Suhag Khan (33), Rumon Halder (20) and Sabina Ahmed (19).

Officer-in-Charge (Inspector) of Dharmanagar Railway Station GRP Police Station Uttam Kali told the media that the GRP jawans became suspicious after seeing these four people roaming around the station premises.

They then spoke to them and the four admitted that they had smuggled into India from Bangladesh in the dark of night.

Later they came to Dharmanagar by bus.

The intention was to go to Bangalore by train. They were supposed to attend work there.

Quoting one of the detained youths, inspector Uttam Kali also said that they crossed the border and entered Indian territory in exchange for 6 thousand rupees by the hands of brokers. But they could not say anything about which border of Tripura they entered in India.

The OC of GRP police station said that no valid documents to enter the territory of India were found with the detainees and a case has been registered against them under the Indian Passport Act.
