Police operation with CRPF is going on at night in darkness at Bishalgarh Chelikhala Naka Point.
Allegedly, a youth was injured by CRPF baton. Currently undergoing treatment at GBP Hospital.
According to the details of the incident, Sipahijala has become a heaven of international illegal trafficking.
It is alleged that most of the drugs smuggled from outside the state to Bangladesh cross the border through Bishalgarh under Sepahijala district through various areas of Boxanagar and Sonamura police stations.
Sealing the complaint, the police sat on naka checking for 24 hours at two places in the district namely Melaghar and Chelikhala area of Bishalgarh.
Allegedly, on Saturday night, Pradip Nama of Charilam Karimura area under Bishalgarh Police Station and his brother Rakesh Nama left for home from Manikya Nagar on a bike. They were not wearing helmets.
When the CRPF jawans tried to stop them at Naka Point, they quickly fled from there and stood in front of a party office of a ruling party in Chelikhla Bazar.
Locals found them bleeding profusely from their noses and mouths. Later the locals informed Bishalgarh fire station. The injured were rescued from the spot and taken to Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital.
The victims claimed that the on duty Police and CRPF demanded Rs 500 from them as they were not wearing helmets.
When they refused to pay this money, police and CRPF jawans severely beat them up.
The situation in the area became hot within a moment based on the incident. Some local youth blocked the road in protest.
Their complaint is that extortion is going on in the check point. It is used as a corridor to reach the heaven for trafficking. Madhupur, Swatganj SP office of police personnel are given on duty. All those who are on duty at this naka point at night return home in the morning with a large sum of money. So police love to do duty at this naka point.
The youth blocking the road alleged that the police harassed only the locals, barring smuggled vehicles. Police and TSR rushed to the spot after receiving information about the incident. In the main time the blockeders managed to escape. But the broke the barricades of naka point.
According to the police, two young men met with an accident while riding a bike at high speed. Later, making this accident another issue, some riotous local youths came and attacked the naka, uprooting the trolley, pitch drum and other things from the road. They blocked the road for some time. Later, when the police reached the spot in large numbers, they fled from the spot.
The area adjacent to Naka Point was tensed till midnight with accusations and counter accusations.
However, according to local sources, most of those who blocked the road are related to illegal smuggling trade. It is believed that they adopted this method of disguising the accident due to the decline in illegal trade.
