Increasing Political Clashes In Tripura….
Tripura is one such state in the Northeast that frequently witnesses clashes between members and supporters of different political parties – particularly between the BJP and the CPIM; the BJP and Congress; even the BJP and the ally Indigenous People Front of Tripura (IPFT). Uncertainty prevails over the political landscape in Tripura. The observation is entirely based on the ongoing situation in the northeastern state, which is presently marred with the tension between political parties and their respective followers. The January 17 attack on state Congress president Pijush Biswas at Bishalgarh in Sepahijala District and the vandalization of CPI(M) MP Jharna Das Baidya’s residence in Matripalli area within 12 hours raised a question over the law and order situation in the state. Tripura is one such state in the Northeast that frequently witnesses clashes between members and supporters of different political parties – particularly between the BJP and the Congress; the BJP and CPI(M); the BJP and the Indigenous People Front of Tripura (IPFT). If we look at this from a fresh perspective, we can say that Tripura is a politically active state with equal hype amongst the party supporters. Other states in the Northeast hardly witness any political clashes, except maybe during election times. Political awarenes is healthy for the democracy but political violence makes law and order situation and its must never acceptable. Opposition parties are the back bone of the democracy, it’s a proven truth and ruling party must abide by this truth.
