India Celebrates Gandhi Jayanti On Friday Following Covid Restrictions

Nation celebrates Father’s 151st birth anniversary on friday. President Ramnath covind, Vice president venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok sabha speaker Om Birla, Opposition Leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi. President and prime minister paid homage in Rajghat. To commemorate the 151st birth anniversary Mahatma Gandhi, schools and universities across the nation conducted several activities and events for students and teachers ensuring COVID-19 guidelines are followed. International Day of Non-Violence is also celebrated on October 2 as every year on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary to promote non-violence through education and public awareness. This day was marked in 2007 by the UN and is celebrated on Gandhi’s birth anniversary as he was an icon of the philosophy and non-violence strategy. The principle of non-violence aims to achieve social or political change and rejects the use of physical violence.
