Prime Minister Narenda Modi Said on Wednesday (23 August) at the open plenary session of the 15th BRICS Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa that BRICS will have to prepare for the future.
He said that India fully supports the expansion of BRICS, we welcome moving forward with a consensus on this.
PM Modi further said, “BRICS has covered a long and glorious journey in almost two decades. We have made many achievements in this journey. Our New Development Bank is playing an important role in the countries of the Global South”.
He further said that under the chairmanship of South Africa, the countries of the Global South have been given special importance in BRICS. We welcome it. India has also given importance to this subject under the chairmanship of G-20.
PM Modi said that we are bringing changes in the lives of common citizens of BRICS countries. For this, people-to-people ties are being strengthened through Youth Summit, BRICS Games and Think Tank Council.
He suggested that we should increase cooperation in the field of space. Apart from this, cooperation in education, skill development and technology will have to be increased.
He said that significant progress has been made on India’s suggested measures in the areas of cooperation between Railway Research Network, MSME, start-ups.
