Police brought eight people from Agartala to Dharmanagar on Saturday who were arrested in theft case in a jewellery shop in Dharmnagar on Friday .
Among the arrested eight three of them are men five of them are women. Each of them belongs from Kolkata.
Police arrested them from a hotel in Agartala under west Tripura district on Friday night. Several gold ornaments have been rescued from the victims.
Notably Police have arrested eight members of an inter-state thief gang, including five women from Agartala.
Police of West Agartala police station raided a hotel in the capital on Friday (July 21).
The arrested are Sundari Das (40), Taapi Das (33), Golappi Das (55), Benu Das (60) and Morjina Bibi (45).
All they are belongs from Barachapa area of North Chabbish Pargana in West Bengal. Swapan Mondal (42) lives in Bara Chapai, Chanchal Ghosh (27) lives in Katwa, Safiqul Sahazi (42) lives in Deganga area.
A robbery took place in a gold shop during the day light in Dharmanagar, North district of Tripura on Friday.
Later, a written complaint was lodged by the shop owner with Dharmanagar police station. And CC TV footage of the shop was given to the police.
The CTV footage is sent to all police stations in the state. On the basis of this footage, the police were able to arrest those involved in the theft by raiding a hotel adjacent to Colonel Chowmuhani in the capital.
At that time, a bracelet, two necklaces, six ear rings, six lockets and some mobile phones were seized from them.
Market value is estimated to be around Rs 10 lakh .
Besides cars have also been seized from them.
Dharmanagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shiburanjan Dey rushed to Agartala on hearing the information.
