Internal Security During Shyama Puja Festival: North Tripura District Administration Holds Meeting

North Tripura District Magistrate Debapriya Bardhan held a meeting regarding the security of Shyama Puja (goddess Kali puja) festival at the District Magistrate’s conference hall.

North District Superintendent of Police Bhanu Pada Chakraborty was with him.

The District Magistrate said that a meeting was held with each club regarding the rules and regulations of Shyama Puja and importance was laid on how to strictly implement the security measures.

The Shyama Puja in Dharmanagar lasts for four to five days and many visitors from the state and out of States throng Dharmanagar during this time. Hence the overall security system has been strengthened.

DM said that similar to the 35 no-entry points installed in Dharmanagar during Durga Puja, these points will remain in force during Shyama Puja as well.

It has been decided that there will be No Entry every day from 5 pm to 2 am. Plans have been taken up to set up drop gates at six places and police support centers at four places.

 The Superintendent of Police also said around 1,000 policemen, TSR and other security personnel will be active in the city on Shyama Puja days. Common people do not take the law into their own hands when miscreants try to spoil the situation in the city on Puja days. Police personnel who will be on duty at various locations are advised to inform immediately.

The staff of the department is monitoring the quality of the food available on the roadside and in various hotels for the pilgrims on a daily basis.

It has been proposed to install CCTV cameras in big pandals and overall security arrangements in each pandal to be strengthen on urgent basis.
