May 22 is celebrated around the world as International Biodiversity Day.
As a part of this, the day is also celebrated in the state of Tripura on Sunday in keeping with the rest of the world through various programs.
On this day first a bicycle rally was organized. The rally started from the Heritage Park in Agartala and traveled various streets of the city.
Members of Agartala Cyclicholic Club took part in it. PCCF Dr. DK Sharma and other officials of the forest department were present in the program.
Dr. Sharma said that this year’s theme is a pledge to give equal importance to nature and all living beings. Everyone in the society has to come forward to protect nature. Because nature provides the necessary medicine for human beings starting from food.
He inaugurated the rally by waving the green flag. Participants rode bicycles with various placards with environmental slogans around their necks.
After that, a drawing competition was held in the premises of Prakriti Bhaban in Hatipara area of the capital Agartala.
Children and teenagers took part in it. The program was jointly organized by the Forest Department of the Government of Tripura and the Tripura State Biodiversity Board.
