Katalin Kariko, Drew Weissman Gets Nobel Prize-2023 For Covid Vaccines

The 2023 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine has been awarded to Catalin Carico and Drew Weissman. 

They has been awarded this award for their discoveries related to nucleoside based modifications. 

Their discoveries have enabled the development of effective mRNA vaccines against COVID-19.

These awards are given to those who have done the best work for the welfare of humanity in the last 12 months. These awards are given for outstanding contributions in many fields such as physics, chemistry, medicine, literature and peace. 

The awards are given in memory of Swedish businessman and inventor of dynamite, Alfred Nobel. 

Alfred Nobel left most of his earnings to fund this award. The Nobel Prize was given for the first time in 1901. In 1968, the Central Bank of Sweden added another category, Economic Science, to it.
