Shwadha Ranjan Deb, a CPIM youth activist was referred to Kolkata for brain operation on Sunday. He was severely injured during a political clash between ruling BJP and opposition CPIM. ” Clotted blood found in his brain in MRI test due to head injury” said an official of ILS hospital. Large gang of miscreants owing allegiance to BJP on sunday noon stormed the residence of CPI (M)’s west district committee and former minister and five time MLA Pabitra Kar and tried to subvert a conference of DYFI local committee . In the attack more than twenty CPI (M) workers including women were injured , three of them seriously , while a number of motor bikes and a party vehicle were damaged. Three seriously injured persons identified as Shwadha Ranjan Deb, Ratan Das and Pinak Das were seriously injured and had to be taken to hospital by Fire Brigade vehicles . Besides, Prangopal Acharjee , a photographer of ‘Syandan Patrika’ also sustained serious injuries and his costly camera was also broken. A police force has been deployed around the house of Pabitra Kar in Khayerpur for security and for preventing further attacks. Speaking to media persons Pabitra Kar said that a convention of DYFI was being held in his house this morning and in a totally unprovoked manner a large group of BJP workers and supporters had stormed the house around 9-00 AM and started indiscriminately attacking the gathering of DYFI workers and supporters. “They fled after our workers resisted them but before that they had injured three of our party workers in front of my house ; they also broke a large number of motor bikes and Scootys and one tribal girl was also injured ; I have already spoken to the seniormost police officers and informed him of the matter; the BJP is totally responsible for the attack and this has been continuing since March 2018” said Pabitra . Even as Pabitra was speaking in front of his house to media persons the BJP assailants were seen lurking at a distance to launch further attacks . However, a police force was on duty in the area to prevent attacks.
