Khumulwang Rally: NC-Mebar Ready To Sacrifice Ministry Post, Pradyot Warns BJP.

The poll alliance between ruling BJP and IPFT for the upcoming ADC elections with the IPFT leaders including Pradyot Kishore and one of the kingpins of 1980 ethnic riots Harinath Debbarma sounding a bugle of war to press their absurd demand for ‘Greater Twipraland’. The clarion call for fight against the policies and programmes of BJP was given in a rally held at Khumlwang. Even though the meeting had been called by the conglomerate of regional forces comprising IPFT,INPT, TPF and newly formed TIPRA, the INPT leaders Jagadish Debbarma, Bijay Kumar Hrangkhwal and TPF leader Patal Kanya Jamatya boycotted the rally.
Speaking in the rally Harinath, Pradyot and their lackeys sternly warned BJP MP Rebati Tripura, asserting that he will not be allowed to enter ADC areas for allegedly ‘betraying’ tribal interests. Rebati had said yesterday that unless IPFT made its position known by 6-00 in the evening today BJP will go about the ADC elections alone. But the likes of Pradyot and Harinath and their cronies today warned Rebati and reminded him that MLAs and MPs in Nagaland and Mizoram resign to protect the interests of their people Rebati is betraying his people.
Significantly Pradyot Kishore who resorted to his usual histrionics while moving from one part of the dias to another in the course of his speech said that he had spoken to Narendra Chandra Debbarma and Mebar Kumar Jamatya and ‘they are ready to sacrifice their ministerial posts’ for protecting the interests of indigenous people as also for capturing the ADC by snapping ties with national parties like BJP, Congress and CPI (M). “For the past seventy years the so-called national parties have only secured votes of the indigenous people but have done nothing for them; now is the time for change we will have to capture the ADC on our own to ensure development of the tribal people” said Harinath and Pradyot. The IPFT leaders among whom Narendra Chandra Debbarma, Mebar Kumar Jamatya and Brishaketu Debbarma were present in the meeting described the coalition partner BJP as ‘traitors’ as the latter have done nothing to implement the common minimum programme and other steps demanded for tribal development. The IPFT leaders as well as Pradyot Kishore said that soon a delegation of tribal leaders will visit Delhi to meet the central ministers to press for their demands.
