Abhishek Chanda, the special secretary of the Planning Department of the Department of Economics and Statistics holds a press conference in Civil Secretariat on Monday.
Speaking in the press conference he said:
The Department of Economics and Statistics is playing an important role in collecting, analyzing and disseminating various types of finance social data for planning and policy decisions. The State Statistical System was introduced in 1941 by the then Maharaja to meet the routine needs of administration and to conduct the 1941 Population Census.
In May 2009, the Chief Secretary issued an advertisement for an efficient professional system, specifying the role of Tripura as the nodal agency.
The Directorate of Economics and Statistics has successfully completed the 79th round of NSS.
State’s GSDP has increased. This is slightly lower than the national figure.
A large number of vacancies are lying vacant. Even after sending the file to the government, no action is being taken. The office will work as per the decision of the government. But right now there is a lot of staff shortage.
As the minister of the department was in Delhi on special work, the special secretary informed everyone that he gives information in this regard by holding the press conference.
