Large Quantity Of Mobile Seized From Indo-Bangla Bus In Agartala

Foiling a smuggling attempt, the Border Security Force (BSF) has seized a large quantity of mobile phones from the Indo-Bangladesh bus service in Agartala.

According to BSF, Tripura Road Transport Corporation’s Maitri bus (Agartala to Dhaka) reached Integrated Check-Post (ICP) Agartala for security check on May 21.

As per protocol, the bus conductor and the liaison officer, along with all the passengers on board except the bus driver named Badal Haq, went inside the ICP for immigration and customs clearance.

BSF officials including the intelligence team conducted an investigation of the bus.

“While inspecting the bus, the BSF officials noticed and suspected that one plate with nut bolt was clean while the surrounding plates were dirty. With the help of their tool kit, they opened the door and recovered a total of 665 mobile phones, including 363 brand-new mobile phones,” the BSF statement said.

The Border Security Force said that these suspects carrying mobile phones were already inside the ICP and quickly completed their immigration process and left as regular passengers after the BSF seized the items from the vehicle.

BSF overpowered the driver and seized the above items, which were handed over to the Customs after completing necessary formalities.

BSF said that various prohibited items are regularly seized from the border areas. (ANI)
