LPG Subsidy Hikes In PM Ujjwala Yojana

Modi government has decided to provide relief to the beneficiaries of PM Ujjwala Yojana. Under this scheme, beneficiaries getting LPG i.e. cooking gas will now get a subsidy of Rs 300 on every cylinder.

At present the beneficiaries of this scheme are getting a subsidy of Rs 200 on every cylinder. That means the government has now increased the subsidy on every cylinder of LPG by Rs 100.

This decision is taken in the Modi Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, information about which was given by Union Minister Anurag Thakur during the cabinet briefing.

Announcing this decision of the Modi government, Anurag Thakur said, “On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, a reduction of Rs 200 in the prices of LPG was announced. Due to which the rate of LPG for common people was reduced from Rs 1100 to Rs 900. For the beneficiaries of Ujjwala scheme, this price was reduced to Rs 700.”

“Now the government has decided to give a subsidy of Rs 300 instead of Rs 200 to the beneficiaries of the Ujjwala scheme.”

The Union Cabinet had reduced LPG prices by Rs 200 for all in the month of August. After which the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) currently get a 14.2 kg LPG cylinder for Rs 703, whereas for the common people its price is Rs 903.

After the decision taken by the Union Cabinet on Wednesday, now the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana will get LPG cylinder for Rs 603.

The Union Cabinet has decided to expand the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana only last month. Under this, 75 lakh new LPG connections are to be issued under PMUY during the three years from financial year 2023-24 to 2025-26.

After that the total number of beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana will become 10.35 crore.
