Maha Saptami is being celebrated across the state Tripura with religious fervor and gaiety onFriday. It’s kickoff of five-day Durgotsav. The Puja began in the morning in all temples, ashrams and community pandals with Vedic hymns, playing of Conch or Shankha and beating of drums. In Tripura, Durga Puja festival is being held with amid COVID-19 pandemic and strict health guidelines. However, less number of devotees are visiting temples and pandals. Around 2,000 Community Pujas are being organized across the state. The Tripura Post Correspondent reports that amid drizzling since morning, devotees assembled in various pandals to offer Puja and Pushpanjali, were wearing face cover and following physical distance from one another. The government has imposed strict guidelines for all Community Puja and public to prevent further spread of infection of the virus. Superintendent of Police Shailesh Yadav said, as a preventive measure, the night curfew has been lifted to avoid larger crowds during non-curfew time. Also, the Director of Health Services Dr Subhasis Debbarma made an appeal for all to follow COVID appropriate behaviour and try to enjoy Puja staying at home.
