Hindu devotees take part in the “Tarpan” rituals to honor the souls of their departed ancestors on the holy day of “Mahalaya” at agartala Laxmi Narayan Bari lake on Thursday morning. Although there is Covid19 norms but devotees takes part in this holy occasion maintaining physical distance. As per Bengali beliefs, celebrations for Durga Puja begin with Mahalaya. It is the day when Goddess Durga descends on Earth. Another ritual that goes to mark the short life of humans on earth, called Tarpan, is also observed on this day.
