Malaria, Diarrhea Spikes In Dhalai District In Tripura: Report

The health department of Tripura Government has detected 30 positive cases of malaria and diarrhea in Thalcherra area of ​​Chawmanu RD block under Dhalai district.

According to the report serious concern has arisen in the remote areas of Thalcherra area after positive cases of malaria were reported in the Chawmanu hospital recently. 15 patients have been reported.

“We have detected high cases of malaria and diarrhea in Thalacherra area under Chawamanu Rd block. Soon after the report, we sent a joint team of sub-divisional magistrate, block development officer and health officials to conduct mass testing in the area. And those who have been found positive, we have provided medicines, mosquito nets and other essential items on the spot. None is serious”, said a health officer.

He further informed that recently around 15 persons were found malaria positive and were admitted to Community Health Center Chawmanu but none was serious.

“They have been discharged with medicine. We have also detected 12 positive cases of diarrhoea”, said the official.

According to the report when asked about the possibilities, the official said that both the cases are related to water as the reservoirs with high temperature had dried up and later they started consuming unhygienic and impure water.

“The malaria is a coincidence and we have increased our tests in and around the area”, he said, adding that the administration is keeping a close watch on the situation.

Meanwhile, the administration has started distributing anti-malarial bed nets in various villages of Dhalai district.

A total of one lakh twenty thousand nets will be distributed in Dhalai district this year.
