The ongoing violence in Manipur does not seem to be stopping. Meanwhile, the mob demonstrated violently on Thursday over the arrest of five youths.
The mob, demanding unconditional release of the youth, tried to attack Porompat police station in Imphal East and Singjamei police station and Kwakithel police post in Imphal West district. However, the security forces foiled this attempt.
Security forces released tear gas shells on the crowd, injuring more than 10 people. Officials gave information about this.
He said that as a precautionary measure, the state government has canceled the relaxation in curfew in both the districts of Imphal from 5 pm onwards.
Officials also reported that the mob was incited by six local clubs and Mira Pabis.
Meanwhile, a protestor named Bimola in Porompat said that we were left with no option other than arrest because the government did not release the volunteers of five villages.
He said that if village volunteers continue to be arrested like this then who will protect the Meitei villages.
It is noteworthy that on September 16, Manipur Police had arrested five people for possessing sophisticated weapons and wearing fake uniforms.
The police also issued a statement after the arrest. He had said that the five were produced before the Judicial Magistrate from where they were sent to police custody.
After this incident on Thursday, the state government canceled the relaxation given in curfew in both the districts of Imphal.
The District Magistrate of Imphal West has also issued an official order in this regard. It said that the curfew, which was relaxed from 5 am to 9 pm on September 21, has been withdrawn from 5 pm onwards.
In such a situation, all the restrictions already issued will remain in force. Similar orders have also been given in East Imphal.
