A mentally imbalançed youth was lynched to death by the agitated villagers at the Khaklai village of Singlwng under Taidu police station on Monday midnight.
The police authority from Taidu PS arrested two persons who were in volved in this organised lynching on Tuesday and has presented them to Amarpur sub-divisional court.
The court sent both of them to police custody. The SDPO of Ampinagar Uttam Banik informed that the mentally imbalanced youth Harikumar Jamatia (29), son of Haradhan Jamatia, a resident of Khaklai village, left his house with a sharpened chopper on Monday noon.
Later on the mentally imbalanced youth entered into the house of some Hambai Jamatia and started to attack the members of that house with the chopper abruptly. During this attack Hambai Jamatia was injured seriously and three others were also to some extent wounded. In the meantime the members of that attacked family started to cry.
At that time the accused Harikumar escaped from the spot. The people of that locality sent injured Hambai Jamatia at Taidu Primary Health Centre and later on he was referred to GBP Hospital in Agartala for better treatment.
The unwanted incident turned the local people vehemently agitated and they reversely attacked Harikumar and lynched him to death on that very night. Harikumar died on the spot. The incident caused heavy tension in the locality.
Having received the information the police force from Taidu PS rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. The names of the two arrested accused are Debahari Jamatia and Gourhari Jamatia respectively.
