The District and Sessions Court Judge of Sepahijla district on Wednesday sentenced a person named Kanai Debnath to three years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 50,000 for allegedly physical assault a minor over drinking water.
On June 27, 2020, Debbrata Sharma, the minor son of Monika Sharma, a resident of Kumaria Kocha village under Melaghar police station, went for drinking water at the supply point in front of the house around 12 noon.
At that time the accused Kanai Debnath picked up the minor boy Debbrat Sharma on his head and threw him on the road.
Due to this, Sharma’s shoulder bone was broken. After the incident, Debbrata Sharma was first taken to the primary health center at Bairagi Bazar with serious injuries.
As his condition was critical, he was admitted to GBP Hospital in Agartala for advanced treatment.
Debabrata’s treatment has been going on there for a long time.
But Kanai Debnath and his family members did not come forward for any kind of help. Due to which Manika Sharma, mother of minor son Debbrata Sharma, filed a case in court on July 22.
After a long question and answer, the case was settled in the District and Sessions Judge Court.
Judge Subhradeep Saha of District and Sessions Court of Sepahijala district convicted the accused Kanai Debnath and ordered three years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of fifty thousand rupees. If not collected it has been ordered ordered another six months of imprisonment.
