The court sentenced the guilty to life imprisonment in the rape case. The incident took place on July 28, 2022 at Mangalkhali village under Dharmanagar police station, North Tripura District.
The accused identified as Roshan Ali. According to the details of the incident, a minor girl from Mangalkhali area of Dharmanagar was taken to the forest near her neighbor’s house and raped by covering her face with a cloth.
It is known that the minor’s mother was not at home on the day of the incident. Neighbor Roshan Ali took advantage of that opportunity and came to the minor’s house and said that her mother had told her to bring the goat from the area where the goat was obstructed.
Accordingly , believing the words of the neighbor, when the minor went to fetch the goat, the neighbor forcibly took the minor to the forest and raped her by covering her face with a cloth.
In this regard, a specific case was filed against the accused at Dharmanagar Women Police Station. The police officer in charge completed the investigation of this case in 2022.
She submitted the charge sheet in the court in September. The court accepted the testimony of 22 people and pronounced the final verdict in the case.
Roshan Ali, athe accused is sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for life and ordered to pay a fine of Rs 10,000 under the POCSO Act.
The court ordered an additional six months imprisonment if not collected the amount.
