Modi-Hasina To Inaugurate Agartala-Akhaura Rail On Wednesday

The official foundation stone of the Agartala-Akhaura rail project was laid on July 31. Apart from the Railway Ministers of the two countries, the then Chief Minister of Tripura Manik Sarkar was present at the program at Agartala Rail station on that day.

The work started by acquiring more than 90 percent of the land of 5 km 460 meters from Agartala to Nishchintapur India with great speed in 2017.

10 km 500 m track is in Bangladesh part. The construction company of the Indian Railways, Ircon, was responsible for the construction of the two-way railway track.

But 8 years passed by and the project has been repeatedly delayed.

Finally, the railway construction work of the Bangladesh part was completed last September. On September 15, the freight train was run on a trial basis.

However, the work on the 5 km part of the Indian side is yet to be completed.

However it has been announced to inaugurate the experimental passenger train from Bangladesh part to Nishchintpur station.

The Prime Ministers of the two countries will hold a virtual inauguration at 11:00 on November 1.
