As Monday i.e January 30 is the last date to submit nomination Chief Electoral Officer of Tripura Kiran Gitte reviews the preparation on Sunday.
Speaking with the press he said:
” Till January 27 we have received only total 76 nominations from 60 Assembly Constituencies. In 2018 we did received about 350 nominations. According to that trends we are expecting that total 250-300 more nominations to be submitted on the last day. We inspects the entire process for hassle-free nominations submission”
On the other hand Tripura Police has done special security arrangements to provide foolproof security at the offices of the Returning Officers across the state.
Special deployment of force has been done to ensure that the entire nomination submission process be hassle free and smooth.
According to the report two hundred companies of central forces have already arrived and are deployed across the state to ensure a hassle-free campaign for the February 16 polls.
“Two hundred more companies will come to ensure free and fair elections, they are on the way; we expect the upcoming assembly elections to be completely free and fair.” said DGP Amitabh Ranjan.
“We have set up check points and ‘nakas’ at sensitive junctions across the state and over 10,000 vehicles have already been checked and searched at ‘naka’ points, ” said Amitav Ranjan.
He said that 300 companies were deployed in the last assembly elections, but this time 100 more companies would be on the ground for security duty.
