‘No Re-Poll’ Decision By Election Commission: Left Front To Boycott By-Polls Counting

The Left Front has decided to boycott the counting of by-elections in Boxanagar and Dhanpur assembly constituencies which is scheduled on Friday.

The Left had filed a complaint with the Election Commission alleging that the polls were totally rigged and the polls turned into a farce in both centres.

After the polling, in the press conference organized at the CPIM Tripura state office in the Melarmath on Tuesday evening, the Left Front demanded re-polling in Boxanagar and Dhanpur assembly constituencies.

But even after 24 hours of making the demand, the Election Commission has not announced any decision in this regard.

The Left Front is fully aware of the mindset of the Election Commission.

After making a farce of voting in a democratic system, the Left has criticized the fact that the Election Commission did not order re-polling despite complaints with specific evidence.

It is also claimed that these incidents prove that the democratic rights of the people are being repeatedly taken away during the BJP-led government in the state.

Strongly protesting such role of Election Commission, Left Front has announced this decision to boycott the counting of by-elections of Boxanagar and Dhanpur assembly constituencies.

In a press statement Left Front mentioned:

Yesterday on 5th August, 2023, The Tripura Left Front met the press at 6 p.m. and expressed that the bye elections to 20 Boxanagar and 23 Dhanpur in Tripura were completely rigged and made a farce. And in this respect drew the attention of the Election Commission time and again right from the beginning of the polling. But sorry state of affair was that no positive steps was taken to prevent the whole scale rigging.

In this back drop the Tripura Left Front demanded to countermaned the rigged election to these two constituencies and go for announcement of fresh election.

But surprisingly after elapsed of twenty four hours of this demand the Election Commission has not budged yet.

Under this Circumstances it is amply clear that the motive of Election Commission. In this situation what is the point of thinking of going of counting of votes. Therefore, we have decided to boycott the counting of rigged voting on 8th August’2023.
