Non-Payment Of Wages: Anganwadi Workers Locked CDPO Office In Gandachhara

Anganwadi workers and helpers of Social Welfare Department locked the CDPO office and stages demonstration due to non-payment of wages.

The incident took place at office of the Social welfare department in Gandachhara sub-division of Dhalai district, Tripura.

Regarding the payment of salaries to the Anganwadi workers of the Social Welfare Department, there was a dispute going on in the department for a long time.

239 workers and 239 helpers of Gandachhara subdivision are not getting wages on time.

Naturally they lost my patience. The workers gathered and besieged the social welfare office of Gandachhara sub-division, later hanged the lock in ir.

The police of Gandachhara police station rushed to the spot after receiving the information.

It is known that the social welfare department of Gandachhara sub-division is suffering from lack of guardians for a long time. Although the higher authorities are aware of the matter. There is no CDPO in the Sub-Divisional Social Welfare Department for a long time.

Anganwadi workers demands current month’s salary must be paid immediately along with four months’ arrears of fitting bill and mobile recharge bill.

After locking for an hour, the Anganwadi workers spoke to the PO of the Social Welfare Department over the phone.

After receiving assurance from the official, they released the gheraoed and opened the lock.

According to the office sources, the state government is delaying the payment of funds, that is why the problem has arisen.

It is known that Anganwadi workers are yet to get salary of the current month in several subdivisions of Autonomous District Council of Tripura also.

According to the report Anganwadi workers in Kanchanpur, Manu, Chamnu areas may hold protests in those subdivisions in the coming days.
