Decision taken by Khowai Municipal Council to remove the statue of Nripen Chakraborty, former Chief Minister of Tripura & freedom fighter, from Nripen Chakraborty avenue has draws sharp reactions from the local MLA Nirmal Biswas. Biswas has protested the move sharply. “we have no objection if a statue of Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar is installed here but at no point the statue of the former Chief Minister should be shifted” said MLA Biswas. “I have already placed a protest latter before the AMC Administrator Khowai, the SDM, making my point clear” added MLA Nirmal Biswas. Notable that this statue was inaugurated by former Chief Minister and presently Leader of the Opposition Manik Sarkar in 2010.
