Overdose Of Drug Claims Life Of Minor Student In North Tripura

Panic erupted in the area due to the recovery of the dead body of a ninth class student of Holy Cross School. The incident took place in Jamirchhara area under Dhumachhra police station under Langtarivali sub-division, North Tripura Distric.

The name of the deceased teenager is Prashanta Tripura. He was a resident of Jamerchhara.

According to the details of the incident, Prashant Tripura was a class nine student of Kanthalchhara Holy Cross School.

On October 20, after coming home for Durga Puja vacation, he went out to see Puja with his friends and did not return home.

After much searching, his family filed a missing diary at Dhumachara police station on October 23.

Prashant’s elder sister’s brother-in-law came to know from one of his friends that they along with Prashanta had gone behind Jamirchhara forest quarter to buy drugs on that day.

As Prashanta overdosed, they fled leaving him there. After learning about the matter, the police of Dhumachhara police station reached the spot on the morning of October 24 with that friend and recovered Prashant’s dead body.

Initial speculation is that he died of drug overdose. The body was taken to Dhumachara Hospital for post-mortem.

According to sources, the police are interrogating the friend who provided the search to reveal the real mystery of the death. It is clear evidence that the entire sub-division is under the grip of Drug addiction.
