Palm Oil Can Be Profitable For Tripura. Plantation Started: Agriculture Minister

Palm oil is a great cash crop and profitable for farmers across the country.  Palm oil plantation has already started in Tripura. Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath said this while participating in the International Palm oil Conference and Exhibition held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia recently.

On his social media, Nath said that palm oil is now one of the profitable crops used by farmers in India. Already, palm oil plantations have started in Tripura too. After attending the International Palm oil Conference held in Kuala Lumpur, I got to know in detail about the potential of this cultivation and the benefits of the farmers in the international arena, he said.

He expressed the hope that the visit will help the farmers of the state to prosper economically.

Minister Nath said he also visited the International Research Center for Palm oil to understand the technological advancements in this particular crop and how Tripura can benefit from them.

The agriculture department has selected two prominent processors namely Godrej Agrovet and Patanjali Foods as associate partners for implementing NMEO-OP of edible oil in Tripura. Plantation also already been started.

Districts like Unakoti, North Tripura District and Dhalai District have been allotted to Godrej Agrovet while remaining five districts – Khowai, West, Sepahijala, Gomati and South Tripura Districts have been given to Patanjali Foods.
