Prominent pediatrician of Tripura Dr. Bikash Roy recognized for special award for his outstanding contribution to the field of medicine and society on the 77th anniversary of Independence by The Indian Academy of Paediatrics.
In his 85th year of life, Dr. Roy is overwhelmed by this recognition. He said, in my life, I have treated lakhs of children inside and outside the hospital. I have also done a lot of work on the physical and mental development of street children, abandoned children, child laborers. As a result, I received many awards.
He said that he wants to keep himself engaged in the treatment of children in this way for the rest of his life.
Notable that Dr. Bikash Roy besides being an eminent paediatrician, was Medical Superintendent of IGM Hospital from 1991 to 1996 and State Health Director from 1996 to 1998.
After retiring from service in 1998, he devoted himself fully to the child welfare.
