Tripureshwari Mandir or Matabari is of immense importance to the residents of the state of Tripura.

While visiting the state, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid obeisance to Tripura Sundari from afar, though he did not visit the temple. Now he can visit to Matabari.
Tripureshwari temple is located in Matabari village, 55 km from Agartala, the capital of Tripura.
Maharaja Dhanya Manikya established this temple in 1501 AD. This temple is one of the 51 Shaktipeeths of devi Shati.
According to Purana, Sati’s right foot fell on this spot. Shakti is worshiped as Tripura Sundari or Tripureshwari in this temple. This temple is on top of a small hill. As the shape of this mountain is like a turtle, many people call this Shaktipeeth Kurmapeeth.
Matabari or Tripurasundari temple has been decorated in a new form. Prime Minister Narendra Modi or Union Home Minister Amit Shah may come to inaugurate the Diwali festival at Matabari this year.
Tripura Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said that Rs 1600 crore are being given by the Center for the development of the tourism industry in Tripura.
He said that an attempt has been made to bring this temple in Udaipur, in the world tourism map through a multi-faceted plan under Prasad Project . This temple is being developed as a spiritual tourism center. He hopes that the Prime Minister or Union Home Minister may arrive here during Diwali.
The Prime Minister is to campaign in Mizoram for the Mizoram state assembly elections next month. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister are expected to campaign for the party’s candidate in this election. Both are named in the list of star campaigners for the party released by the BJP there.
Tourism Minister of Tripura claims that Prime Minister or Union Home Minister can come to that state at this time.
In this temple is worshiped the goddess made of hard stone. The temple is built in combination of Hindu-Buddhist-Islamic styles. There are two similar deities in this temple. The 5 feet tall idol is known as Tripurasundari and the similar 2 feet tall idol is known as Chhotama or Chandimata.
