A statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said Grossi met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and praised India’s exceptional record as a responsible nuclear power as well as the country’s progress in nuclear science and technology. praised.

At the meeting, Modi shared India’s ambitious goals of increasing the share of environment-friendly nuclear power generation capacity in the energy mix.
The statement said Grossi appreciated India’s global leadership role in civil nuclear applications in the interest of society.
This includes the remarkable progress made by India in using nuclear technology to address challenges facing humanity, including health, food, water purification, plastic pollution and climate change.
The statement said views were exchanged between them on expanding the role of nuclear energy in meeting ‘net zero’ commitments, including small modular reactors and micro reactors.
Grossi praised the excellent partnership between the IAEA and India. He appreciated India’s training and capacity building programs that have helped many countries.
The statement said both sides agreed to explore possibilities of cooperation between India and the IAEA to expand civil nuclear technology applications in the ‘Global South’.
