Intellectuals group condemns the incident of police action on 10323. On Tuesday Intellectuals including educationists, lawyers, writers organized a rally in Agartala protesting the police action on the terminated teachers. The rally with big banner traveled the town. “We urge to government to convey grief on the incident and also appeal to think about the terminated teachers with a fresh mind” said the intellectuals. Notable that more than 80 people were reportedly injured as police resorted to lathicharge and used water cannon and tear-gas shells at terminated school teachers sitting on a dharna outside Agartala City Centre for the past 52 days demanding permanent jobs on 27 January. The teachers were sacked from their government jobs after a Supreme Court order declared their appointment during the previous government’s regime as illegal. They have been demanding new jobs.
