‘Police Arrangements collapsed’: Rahul Gandhi Stopped Bharat Jodo Yatra In J&K

Bharat Jodo Yatra has been stopped in Banihal of Jammu and Kashmir. Rahul Gandhi said on Friday that the police arrangements during his Bharat Jodo Yatra in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir had collapsed, after which he had to cancel today’s yatra on the advice of his security personnel.

He said that I cannot go against my security personnel.

Rahul said that the system of Jammu and Kashmir Police has completely collapsed. The policemen handling the crowd were nowhere to be seen.

Rahul Gandhi said that my security personnel were very uncomfortable walking ahead of me on the yatra, so I had to cancel my yatra.

He said that this should not happen in this yatra and related programs on Saturday-Sunday.

He said that it is the responsibility of the Jammu and Kashmir administration to provide security, I hope that security will be ensured for the remaining days of the yatra as well.

Rahul said, ‘It was a wonderful reception from the people. People had gathered since morning and we were eager to travel. But the policemen who stay near the security cordon during the yatra, either went away or were not seen. It is unfortunate that the police arrangements have completely collapsed”

He said that the people associated with my security had become uncomfortable with this and they said that I should not travel further. So I had to take the decision to cancel my trip today. However, others traveled.

Rahul Gandhi said, ‘It is the responsibility of the administration to guarantee the role of the police. It is very difficult for me to go against the suggestions of people engaged in my security”.

The Congress leader said that I do not know why this happened. But this should not happen tomorrow and the day after.

In response to a question, Rahul Gandhi said that he will travel further. Significantly, the Bharat Jodo Yatra started on September 7 from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu. It will conclude on January 30 in Srinagar.
