Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana Launched In Tripura

On the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a new scheme called “Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana” in New Delhi on Sunday. 

At the same time, the scheme was launched in Tripura as well as across the country. On this occasion, a program was organized at Rabindra Bhavan in Agartala.

Union State Minister Pratima Bhowmik, Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath, Minister Santana Chakma, West Triura District District Magistrate Debapriya Bardhan and others were present there.


The project aims to preserve and enrich ancient heritage, culture and diverse heritage through local products, arts and crafts. 

The central government will spend Rupees 13 thousand crore on PM Vishwa Karma project.

In this project, people engaged in various occupations at the grassroots level of the society such as carpenters, barbers, washermen, masons, blacksmiths, potters, shoemakers, tailors, coca workers, doll and toy makers, are registered through the Common Services Center using the PM Vishwakarma portal. Registration will be free. 

They will be recognized through PM Vishwakarma certificate and ID card. Along with basic and advanced training, a toolkit incentive of Rs 15,000 for skill enhancement, collateral-free credit assistance of up to Rs 1 lakh (first phase) and Rs 2 lakh (second phase) will be provided. 

The scheme aims to strengthen and nurture the practice of Guru-Shishya Parampara or family-based traditional skills. 


The scheme will provide support to artisans and craftsmen in rural and urban areas across India. 

Eighteen traditional crafts will be under Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma scheme.
