Professor Mihir Deb To Receive The Bijankrishna Smriti Sahitya Award 2023

Poet, Professor Mihir Deb to receive the Bijankrishna Smriti Sahitya Award 2023. This award will be presented by Rabindra Parishad at Dakshini auditorium at 6:30 pm on August 19.

Essayist Naresh Chandra Debbarma will be present as guest. Rabindra Parishad president Subimal Roy, vice president Rajalakshmi Chowdhury, Shekresh Bhattacharya, Dr. Narayan Bhattacharya gives this information on Thursday.

While informing about Bijankrishna Chowdhury, they said, Tripura Rabindra Parishad (1961) was the first organized institution of Rabindra music and culture in Tripura. One of its founders, dedicated to the people of Tripura, Bijanakshna was born on May 7, 1930, in Sylhet (now Bangladesh). He passed away on August 19, 1992 at the age of 62.

He started working in , Guwahati College in 1959. Worked in Birbikram College and Birbikram Evening College since 1960. Published poetry books ‘Jalprapater Kache Natajanu’, ‘Setubandha’ and other poems. ‘Baul Kabi Radharaman Gitisangrah’ jointly edited with Jatindramohan Bhattacharya is one of the best works of his life.

Since 2005, Tripura Rabindra Parishad has announced the Annual Memorial Award to the special achievements of Tripura and North-East region in poetry, literature every year with special honor and respect to the memory of Tripura Rabindra Parishad eminent poet, social worker and organizer Bijankrishna Chowdhury.

Since 2005, the award was arranged with the financial support of the family of late poet Bijankrishna Chowdhury. Now Tripura Rabindra Parishad has take over this responsibility.

They said, according to the unanimous decision of the Executive Committee of the Parishad, on Saturday, August 19, at 6:30 pm, eminent educationist, poet and writer Mihir Dev will be honored with this award this year through a special program at the Southern House of Tripura Rabindra Parishad. The prize money is fifteen thousand taka. Wreaths, mementos, certificates and certificates will also be provided. Tripura Rabindra Parishad President Subimal Roy will preside over the function.

In the press conference, they said about this year’s award recipient Mihir Deb. Mihir Dev was born in 1940 in Dharmaghar village of Sylhet district of present Bangladesh. His own village was Dharkar of Kasba police station in Bangladesh. Primary education in Comilla, Dhaka and Calcutta. He also studied at Katpichara (now Cachar District), Hailakandi.

After BA with Physics Honors he completed MSc from Calcutta university and after that he successfully did his job of professor in MBB College from 1963 to 2000.

From 2001 to 2014 he served as Chairman of Tripura State Pollution Control Board. From 2014 to 2018 he was the President of Tripura Board of Secondary Education.

His writing started from 1956. Then from 1963 he started writing regularly in the little magazines of Agartala. Published poetry books ‘Bangladesh’, ‘Swadesh O Ami’ and ‘Eka Doka’.
