In view of repeated reports of alleged gross corruption, the Directorate of the Social Welfare and Social Education conducted preliminary enquiries against CDPO of Kadamtala ICDS, Dharmanagar, South Tripura District.
They are Ayan Bhowmik CDPO and Sribash Chandra Paul, Jr SEO.
Based on the enquiry reports, both Bhowmik and Paul are suspended.
It was alleged in media reports that Bhomik and Paul were involved in providing less than the stipulated quantity of rice to the Anganwadi centres and would save rice to illegally sell the rice in the markets.
However, they allegedly destroyed the illegally acquired rice as they could not sell those.
There were allegations pertaining to manipulating the tender and award contracts to higher bidders depriving the lowest bidder.
Amidst the allegations, the SW&SE conducted a preliminary enquiry and the charges against Bhaumik and Paul were found to be ‘factual’ and ‘accurate’ against them.
As part of the disciplinary proceedings, both are placed under suspension.
During the period, this suspension order shall remain in force, Bhaumik and Paul shall be at Headquarters, Kadamtala in North Tripura and they shall not leave the Head quarter without obtaining permission from the Director of the SW&SE.
The suspension order of the duo brought cheers among the local people who remained vocal.
