The Privilege Committee of the Lok Sabha on Wednesday (30 August) approved the proposal to cancel the suspension of Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.
He was suspended during the monsoon session.
Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury had presented his side in the Privilege Committee meeting of Parliament on Wednesday.
The Congress MP said the committee headed by Bharatiya Janata Party MP Sunil Singh that he did not intend to hurt anyone’s sentiments.
According to news agency PTI, the committee passed a resolution to end Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary’s suspension. This proposal will soon be sent to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla for consideration.
Appearing before the Privilege Committee, BJP MP Janardan Sigriwal also got his statement recorded.
It may be noted that Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary, during the discussion on the no-confidence motion in the Lok Sabha in the recently concluded monsoon session of the Parliament, was adjourned for the proceedings of the House on August 10 due to some comments made about Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his conduct. was suspended from
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi had presented a proposal related to this in the Lok Sabha, which was approved by the House by voice vote. Earlier, members of Congress and its allies had walked out of the House.
Along with this, the matter against him was sent to the Committee of Privileges for investigation.
The matter was considered by the Committee of Privileges on 18 August.
The committee had decided to call MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary for oral evidence on 30 August 2023.
