Rod pierced In Throat Accidentally, Removed Successfully In GBP

Specialist surgeons of Nose, Ear and Throat department successfully completed a very critical surgery on Wednesday at AGMC & GBP Hospital. 

The surgical team consisted of ENT specialist Dr. Tarun Guha, Dr. Tanmoy Dev, Dr. Satyakam Chakraborty, Dr. Sayantan Rudrapal, anesthetist Dr. Bhaskar Majumdar, Dr. Bidhan Das, Dr. Biswajit Sutradhar along with 3 assistants, staff nurses and other health workers. 

After the surgery, the patient is currently under the care of doctors in the ENT ward.

The family of the patient expressed gratitude to the doctors of AGMC & GBP Hospital, Tripura for saving the life of the patient through such a complex surgery.

According to the report a 32-year-old resident of Dukli in Agartala was fatally injured after a sharp iron rod pierced his throat in an accident. 

Neighbors and close relatives brought him to the trauma care center in critical condition. 

After the initial examination of the patient, the doctors decided to undergo a quick operation.

After his physical condition improved after initial treatment, a surgical team led by specialist doctors from Nose, Ear and Throat Department of AGMC & GBP Hospital removed the iron rod with a piece of cloth from the patient’s throat through a very critical and risky surgery.


Meanwhile, Chief Minister Professor (Dr) Manik Saha congratulated the doctors and health workers for successfully completing this complex surgery.
