The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced the withdrawal of Rs 2,000 notes from circulation.
Along with this, RBI has said that from May 23 to September 30, 2023, two thousand rupee notes can be deposited or converted into other notes.
After which the State Bank of India (SBI) has issued a guideline regarding the exchange of notes.
SBI has issued guidelines to all its branches and given related instructions. According to which, the country’s largest public sector bank is giving its customers the facility to exchange Rs 2,000 notes up to Rs 20,000 without any form or slip. Under this, the exchange of 2000 notes will be easy.
SBI has asked all the branches to create an easy and better system for exchanging notes without any inconvenience.
Along with this, the bank has told that no identity proof will be required to exchange 10 notes of Rs 2,000 i.e. notes of value up to Rs 20,000.
Earlier there were speculations on social media that for depositing Rs 2000 notes one has to fill form and give Aadhaar card etc.
Let us tell you that even if your bank account is not opened in SBI or in any bank, you can go to the bank and get the 2000 notes deposited with you converted into other notes.
To avoid any kind of inconvenience, RBI has asked the common people to change the notes at their convenience within the stipulated time till 30 September 2023.
However, RBI has made it clear that it will continue to be a legal tender. This means that if you have a note of Rs 2,000 (Rs 2000 Notes), then its validity will remain. You can do transactions through this till 30 September 2023.
