Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi has also come out for campaigning in the Karnataka Assembly elections.
At a rally in Bidar’s Bhalki, Rahul said that the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh are spreading hatred and violence in the country and attacking democracy.
He appealed to the people in the election meeting to give full support to the Congress in the Karnataka assembly elections and win 150 seats for the party.
Polling for all 224 seats in Karnataka is to be held on May 10 and the counting of votes will take place on May 13.
He said that Bidar is the workplace of Basavanna (12th century social reformer). He was the first to talk about democracy.
Rahul Gandhi alleged that today the people of RSS and BJP are attacking democracy all over India. The people of RSS and BJP are attacking Basavanna ji’s thinking by spreading hatred and violence in India.
He said that as soon as the Congress government is formed in the state, steps will be taken to fulfill the four promises made by the Congress.
Targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi said that Modi ji had promised 15 lakh rupees, did 15 lakh rupees come? That’s why we should not make false promises like BJP. Whatever promises the Congress will make, they will be fulfilled as soon as the government is formed.
The election guarantees announced by the Congress include 200 units of free electricity every month under ‘Griha Jyoti’, Rs 2,000 per month to every female head of the family under the Griha Lakshmi Yojana, Rs 2,000 per month to every member of a BPL family under Anna Bhagya.
Month 10 kg rice will be offered. Apart from this, Rs 3,000 per month will be given to unemployed graduates and Rs 1,500 per month to diploma holders for two years under Yuva Nidhi.
He alleged that the present BJP government in Karnataka is a 40 per cent commission government. Today in Karnataka 40 percent commission is given for every work.
He said that at least 150 seats have to be given to the Congress in this election. They (BJP) will try to buy MLAs. It is very important that you give absolute majority to the Congress. There is an election to remove the corrupt government with 40 percent commission. Vote to end corruption.
