With the ADC elections drawing close the state government is taking a serious look at the security concerns in holding the polls likely to come off latest by May 17. Even though the state election department is preparing the ground for the polls which is likely to be bitterly fought , the police department is holding meetings about security in view of a number of recent attacks like extortion and abduction by petty criminals masquerading as NLFT militants. The gaps created in security dragnet by withdrawal of TSR camps from strategic areas will be filled up and new deployment of forces, depending on perceived vulnerability of area will be made . Sources said that , if necessary, forces from plainland areas will be withdrawn for deployment in vulnerable areas to plug all the loopholes in security set-up. Sources said that careful redeployment of forces will help to thwart any attempt at disruption of the polling process by the so-called pseudo militants. What the security set up is worried about is the provocative activities and utterances. The state government is proceeding to cope with the situation with due diligence and firmness.
