After the Supreme Court’s decision on 17 February 2020, 557 women officers have been given permanent commission in the Indian Army.
There has been no delay in granting permanent commission to any woman officer. Minister of State for Defense Ajay Bhatt said this in a written reply to DMK MP M Shanmugam in Rajya Sabha on Monday.
Also Ajay Bhatt said that 63 eligible women officers have been given permanent commission till November 25, 2021, in compliance with the Supreme Court’s decision.
29 October Permanent commission to 39 women officers
Earlier on 29 October 2021, the Indian Army had granted permanent commission to 39 women officers. Then the Supreme Court had directed the Army to give permanent commission to these officers by November 1.
On October 22, the Supreme Court had directed 39 women officers to be granted permanent commission within seven working days.
