State government has decides to waive off stump duty in case of bank loans upto 5 lakh for government sponsored projects and to insert a clause in new recruitment policy of the state government. Loan application had to pay stamp duty of Rs 10 or Rs 50 to avail loans for government projects like KCC, PMAY, MMSY etc. However the council of ministers of Tripura Government has decided that stamp duty would not be required any more to avail such loans. Stamp duty collection was a source of revenue for the State Government. As many as 2 lakh thousand persons took bank loans in 2019-20 FY and the government would lose revenue of Rs 60 lakh 90 thousand due to the decision of waiving of the stump duty.
