At a time when the entire BJP state unit is busy with face saving exercise after Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb’s statement for a referendum, another party MLA DC Hrangkhawl lobbed a bombshell against the leadership. “The entire state has plunged into a dictatorship rule where the democracy spirit is reduced to air Biplab Deb is ruling the state at the behest of opposition leader Manik Sarkar”, he told the media. The four-time MLA said the Chief Minister has violated the spirited democratic value by convening a rally at Vivekananda ground for seeking a referendum and that too sitting in the Civil Secretariat! “The BJP is a national party and a leader can’t convene a rally on its own. He could have made a proposal to the Central leadership”, he said. Recalling his journey in Parliamentary democracy, Hrangkhawl alleged, “The democracy did exist during the Congress or CPI(M) rule but the new regime has completely destroyed Parliamentary democracy and its core values. MLAs are not being deliberately ignored”, he said. On the Chief Minister’s claim of providing 23,000 jobs ever since the BJP government came to power, the veteran tribal leader said, “The offers might have mistakenly gone to Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar or Noakhali! I don’t know if any unemployed youth of Chief Minister’s constituency gets or not. I am really shattered for not helping the youths of my area”, he said. Hrangkhawl also held the Biplab Kumar Deb responsible for deaths of two precious lives during agitation at Panisagar. “The insensible administration remains silent even if the agitation of JMC was spreading to Unakoti district from Kanchanpur in North district. The government is not doing justice to the 10,323 teachers”, he added.
